Overview

“I am waiting… If only I could find longing as sweet as you do.”

Düsseldorf, 1854. When the composer Robert Schumann is committed to an asylum, his wife Clara – famous across Europe as a virtuoso pianist – is left grieving and alone with her six children. A young family friend called Johannes Brahms rushes to offer his support. What happened next has long been the subject of speculation… Clara herself later described it as ‘an exquisite harmony of souls’.

Following last year’s sell-out performance of An Exquisite Harmony, acclaimed actor/pianist collaborators Christopher Kent and Gamal Khamis return, joined by actress Sarah Sherborne. Together, they present the compelling and moving story of one of music’s great love triangles, told through the diaries, letters, and sublime music of all three composers.
