Overview
“Two world views are about to collide over a glass of sherry”
22nd December, 1917. There is a knock at the door of Millicent Fawcett’s home on Gower Street, Bloomsbury. Lady Ottoline Morrell has crossed from her home at 44 Bedford Square to express her condolences for the loss of a beloved sister. Fawcett, leader of the suffragists, is about to open the door to the patroness of the Bloomsbury Group. Politics and culture are about to collide.
Across The Square explores the complicated relationship between two sharply contrasting women from very different worlds. Written by Non Vaughan-O’Hagan for the Bloomsbury Theatre Festival 2024, and directed by Alex Pearson, the production is full of both laughter and drama while these two extraordinary women try to find common ground.
