Norway, 1881. Years ago, Helene sent her beloved son away from the family home. Today, Oswald returns. His arrival coincides with the grand opening of an orphanage to commemorate the tenth anniversary of his father’s death. But as mother and son reunite, long-buried secrets emerge – setting off a chain reaction that threatens to consume them both.

Carne Deputy Director Kwame Owusu (Dreaming and Drowning, ★★★★★ Time Out) directs Richard Eyre’s powerful adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Ghosts. This family drama examines our hunger to be free – from our past, society, and destiny – and the cost on the people that we love the most.

Cecilia is known for television roles in BBC’s The Mirror and the Light, The Toast of Tinseltown, and Apple TV+’s Hijack. She has previously performed at the Manchester Royal Exchange, Lyric Hammersmith and Chichester Festival Theatre. She frequently collaborates with BBC Radio Drama and won Best Actress for her performance in Oleanna BBC Radio 4.

Peter F Gardiner has worked in Theatre, TV & Audio for more than 20 years, performing at the National Theatre in ‘This House’ by James Graham, as well as touring the U.S. & Canada for Aquila Theatre Company in both ‘Macbeth’ & ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’. On TV he’s been in ‘Coronation Street’ for ITV as well as ‘A Very English Scandal’ & ‘Marriage’ for the BBC.

Flora is an actress, writer, presenter, and producer. Trained in Dublin, she was a Shooting Star at the Berlin Film Festival, winner of Best Actress Award at Monte Carlo Comedy Festival, Dallas Film Festival, and Las Palmas Film Festival and won the Irish Times Theatre Award for Miss Julie.

Joe was nominated for ‘Best Performer in a Musical’ at the Stage Debut Awards for ‘Spring Awakening’ at the Almeida Theatre. This year he starred in the London revival of Phil Porter’s ‘Blink’. His screen credits include Alex Garland’s upcoming feature ‘Elden Ring’ for A24, the adaptation of Elizabeth Day’s ‘The Party’ for ITV, ‘The New Look’ (Apple) and ‘Bodies’ (Netflix).
